The Fire Streak has a slightly larger body tube than a standard Estes rocket engine. So the first step was to
assemble the motor mount. A slot is cut into the side of the blue engine tube and an engine hook is secured
in place with one of the green engine adapter rings. A second engine adapter ring is glued near the top end of
the engine tube. (shown upside down in the picture)
I've learned the hard way that you must let the glue on the adapter rings dry thoroughly before trying to
insert the motor mount into the body tube. If you rush this, the engine adapter rings could move and create
a less durable bond than desired. Also, in the case of a T3 (Through-The-Tube) design, you might not be able to get the fin tabs
to fit into the body tube slots during the next step of construction.
You can see I've added extra glue around the engine adapter rings and set it aside to dry while working on
sanding and cutting the fins. If you want to add a little pizazz to the way the fins look, sand the leading edge
to make them round and sand the trailing edge into a wedge shape.
