Gluing the Fins

As mentioned before, the Fire Steak uses a T3 design for the fins. This means that there are tabs on the fins that must fit into slots on the body tube. If all goes well with the motor mount, the fin tabs will fit snuggly into the body tube slots and create a strong joint. I still added extra glue (sometimes called "fillets") to the sides of the fins where they meet the body tube. This is an especially useful technique if the fins are surface mounted as with many rockets.

When gluing the fins, keep an eye on them and wipe off any excess glue before it drips along the body of the rocket. After the first application of glue is nearly dry, add "fillet" glue to the fin joints to make sure the fins don't break off during flight or recovery.
